Johnson: Not One Child

Washington, D.C. – In July, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a proposed rule aiming to stop State abuse of eligibility determinations within the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Tuesday, USDA released a requested analysis regarding the potential impact on free and reduced lunches for children in households affected by this proposed rule. Nutrition, Oversight, and Department Operations Subcommittee Ranking Member Dusty Johnson (SD-AL) made the following remarks:

“Scare tactics aside, no one—not one child—whose household meets SNAP eligibility requirements set forth in law will be made ineligible for free or reduced lunch because of this proposed rule. Not one.”
