LaMalfa: Infrastructure Improvements Needed to Safeguard our Nation’s Forests

Washington, D.C. - Today, the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation and Forestry held a hearing on restoring our forest infrastructure. After the hearing, Subcommittee Ranking Member Doug LaMalfa (CA-1) made the following remarks:

“In today’s hearing we had an opportunity to underline that our forest infrastructure needs improvement –some of the questions lie in how to address our current budget challenges. Our committee members need to understand that our infrastructure of roads, trails, dams, bridges and other facilities are what keep our national forests truly accessible for the public. Not enough is being done to address our maintenance backlog. I thank Chief Lago for being here today and look forward to working with the Forest Service and our colleagues on the Appropriations Committee on solutions to protect and restore the infrastructure in our national forests.”
