House Agriculture Committee Gathers Farm Bill Input at Illinois Farm Progress Show

Decatur, Illinois – Today, House Agriculture Committee Chairman K. Michael Conaway (TX-11), Ranking Member Collin Peterson (MN-7) and members of the committee hosted a farm bill listening session, “Conversations in the Field,” at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois. Following the listening session, Chairman Conaway and Ranking Member Peterson made the below remarks:

“Producers from across the country gather at the Farm Progress Show every year for the latest in ag innovation and services. So there is no better place to gather insight and feedback about the challenges in farm country and how we can improve ag policy in the next farm bill than right here in Decatur. I appreciated hearing the heartfelt comments of so many producers and thank everyone who was able to join us today,” said Chairman Conaway.

“Today’s listening session was a continuation of the Agriculture Committee’s efforts to hear directly from the varied interests, across all regions of the country, who are impacted by the farm bill. The Committee will be able to take this information back to Washington to help us write a new farm bill that addresses current challenges. This was another productive session and I appreciate everyone in attendance,” said Ranking Member Peterson.
